# Automatic booking reminders

> A reminder is the cheapest no-show insurance there is — and Cura sends them for you.

A reminder is the cheapest no-show insurance there is. Cura emails customers ahead of their appointment automatically — no spreadsheet, no manual texts, no relying on memory.

This guide explains when reminders go out, who gets them, and how to make sure your confirmed customers get a friendly heads-up before they're due.

## How reminders work

Reminders are sent **by email**, automatically, for confirmed bookings. You don't switch them on per booking — Cura watches your upcoming confirmed appointments and sends each reminder when it comes due.

By default, Cura sends two reminders before each appointment:

* **24 hours before** — enough notice to rearrange the day or cancel in good time.
* **1 hour before** — a final nudge so it isn't forgotten on the day.

Each reminder is sent **once**, so customers aren't pestered with duplicates.

<Note>
  Reminders go out only for **confirmed** bookings that are linked to a contact. An unconfirmed (pending) booking, or one with no contact, won't trigger a reminder — so confirming promptly, and linking a contact, is part of the system.
</Note>

<Info>
  Reminders are delivered by **email** to the contact on the booking. They are not sent back through the chat channel (LINE, WhatsApp, and so on).
</Info>

## What you need in place

* The booking must be **confirmed** — see [Confirming, rescheduling, and cancelling a booking](/bookings/confirm-reschedule-cancel).
* The booking must be **linked to a contact** (so there's an email address to send to).
* Your workspace **timezone** must be set correctly — reminders are timed from it. You can set it in **Business Availability** (see [Setting working hours and availability](/bookings/working-hours-and-availability)).

## When the timing shifts

* **Reschedule a booking** and its reminders follow the new time automatically.
* **Cancel a booking** and its reminders stop.

## Troubleshooting

* **A reminder didn't send.** Check the booking is **Confirmed**, linked to a contact, and far enough in the future that the interval hasn't already passed.
* **Reminders went out at the wrong time.** Re-check the workspace **timezone** in Business Availability — that's what the reminder times are calculated against.
